Small wet rot treatment job in the heart of my old ‘childhood stomping ground’, an area still dear to me.
High moisture levels were found within the floor timbers in the cupboard/store beside the front entrance of the property, with ‘nail rot’ seen on the floorboard nails and the nails holding the skirting boards in place. The walls, which were of a cement render and plaster were found to be clear of any penetrating damp issues, although a condensation mould was found on the surface.
We removed the necessary floorboards to access the affected joists, which were cut out and disposed of. New sections of timbers were fitted, then new tongue and grooved floorboards were laid.
