It’s not every day you find yourself working in a 16th century building in the heart of the parish of Fettercairn, but what a joy this was.
We were asked to carry out a woodworm treatment to all the exposed timbers within the original part of this tower house which dates back to 1569. The adjacent 18th century addition was in a beautiful condition, but the ‘tower house’ needed a lot of loving, and that’s just what the current owners are undergoing. Being sensitive to retain as much of the original features as possible, a lot of research and work has gone into bringing this building back to it’s former glory, a process that continues as we speak.
